Networking
This is not your usual SQL Server User Group event. At SQL Social our aim is to give YOU the opportunity to meet with MVPs, well-known speakers, experienced professionals & industry experts and ask them about the data-related topics that matter to you. It is an opportunity to meet new people, make new friendships and find out what is going on in the data industry in Melbourne.
Speaking
As we have mentioned at previous events, we want to encourage you to take your first steps as a new speaker. As an incentive, every speaker wiil receive a free 1 month PluralSight subscription as a thank you. We only need a short 10 minute or so session on any SQL Server related topic – from an interesting query technique to an overview of the functionality of a component. Contact us if you’d like to have a go.
This Month’s Speaker and Topic
Sudarshan Narasimhan – DBOps – The Old New Thing
Sudarshan Narasimhan is a SQL professional formerly from Microsoft CSS and has worked in various roles including Tech Lead, Database Architect, Engineer and is currently a DBA by trade.
He has authored several KB articles, MSDN blogs and you can find his SQL server musings at TheSQLDude.com. In recent times, he has been working on AWS and other relational databases with a focus on database Infrastructure as Code (IAC).
This session will be interactive and is Sudarshan’s take on the changes occurring in the world of a traditional DBA/DB Developer and what skills are now a must have in the new world and how some skills will never go away.
This is DevOps meets DBA, and what he likes to call “DBOps” – a fusion of DevOps and a Database professional.
Come along and let’s talk about Automation, PowerShell, Deployments and of course SQL scripts 😊
